Rose Hip Oil

     Rose Hip is an emollient oil obtained from the seed pods of the rose plant, being what remains after the petals fall off. It is a light textured oil with a reddish golden brown color and was used for centuries by the Incas as a source of nutrition as well as an effective treatment for many skin aliments.

Uses in Natural Skin Care:

     Rose hip oil contains 80% essential fatty acids (EFAs), predominantly linoleic and linolenic and is naturally enriched with antioxidants beta carotene and lycopene. The EFAs aid the regeneration of skin cells and repair of damaged tissues, retards the signs of premature aging and provides excellent results in the treatment of scars, burns (including sunburn), dry eczema and other skin blemishes. The antioxidants in Rose Hip oil are effective in reducing post-acne and surgical scarring.

    It is recommended for use in facial creams, body lotions, in hair care products for dry and damaged hair and for use in sun care products.

Uses in Traditional Medicine:

     Folklore suggests that Rose Hip Oil strengthens, moisturizes and stimulates dry and sensitive skin, as well as restores elasticity. In hair care products, continual use is claimed to return softness, shine and body to the hair.
