LIME (Citrus aurantifolia)

A well known citrus species with a more tropical distribution, the fruit of the Lime tree (Rutaceae family) produces a watery-white sweet oil from steam distillation of the whole fruit.

Uses in Natural Skin Care Products:
Lime oil is cooling, reviving and toning to the skin and is often used in men’s after shave products, toners and massage oil blends.

It is another of the citrus oils that is added to body toning lotions to refine and smooth ‘orange peel skin’ areas.

Traditional Medicinal Uses:
Similar to Lemon and Grapefruit oils. An uplifting, energising and anti-depressant action makes Lime Oil a beneficial addition to Massage and Bath Oil Blends and can be found in Wildcrafted Invigorating Massage Oil Blend.

The primary constituents in the essential oil of Lime include: bergapten, camphene, citral, limonene, and linalool. They have antiseptic and astringent properties and are useful in the treatment of many conditions.

Contraindications and Cautions:
May have photo- sensitising effects in some individuals and should be used in dilution at all times.
