Lemon-Scented Tea Tree (Leptospermum petersonii)

Also known as Leptospermum citratum, Lemon-scented Tea Tree is native to Northern New South Wales and Queensland (Australia). The essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves and twigs and is composed primarily of citral and citronellal with a more pleaseant, rounder "lemony" scent than citronella or lemongrass.

Uses in Natural Skin Care Products:
It can be applied in the same way as Lemongrass oil for skin care and should always be used diluted.

Traditional Medicinal Uses:
Lemon-scented Tea Tree is said to have antiseptic, antimicrobial, carminative and sedative properties and can be used in aromatic blends for the oil burner to combat coughs and colds. It is also successfully used as a powerful insect repellent.

Lemon-scented Tea Tree can be used in Massage and Bath Oil blends for its sedative and uplifting benefits and is found in:

Cautions and Contraindications: Since citral and citronellal have the potential to be powerful skin irritants, always use diluted in direct skin applications.
