Grapefruit Oil

Botanical Name: Citrus decumana, Citrus paradisi

Family: Rutaceae

Another member of the fabulous Rutaceae Family, Grapefruit is a nutritious and delicious fruit. The rind of the fruit contains the clear-light yellow essential oil and it is extracted by cold pressing.

Properties of Grapefruit Oil:

Uses in Natural Skin Care & Aromatherapy:

As with most of the citrus oils, essential oil of Grapefruit has a cleansing and toning effect on the skin, particularly good for oily and congested skin and is present in a gentle hydrosol form in Wildcrafted’s Wild Herb Toner and Ginseng Hydrator For Men (all blends). Grapefruit oil tightens puffy skin and reduces enlarged pores and helps to disperse pockets of accumulated fluid and impurities. It is frequently used in blends for skin conditions that resemble the peel of the fruit itself.

 

Traditional Medicinal Uses:

Grapefruit has been used to loosen a tight cough and thick phlegm so that it can be more easily coughed up. It has a reputation as a preventative against infection and a cleanser of the Lymphatic System.

Grapefruit oil has an uplifting, energising and anti-depressant action and is therefore very beneficial when used in Massage and Bath Oil Blends.
